Related: Fallout: New California Will Finally Release In October To date, the Fallout games have explored the radioactive ruins of what was California, Washington D.C., Boston and Las Vegas. Based in equal parts on Atomic Age science fiction and the Mad Max films, the games see the player taking on the role of a character of their own design, who must traverse the hazards of the wasteland and triumph over some evil that threatens to destroy what last remnants of humanity still survive. The series has a devout fan following among computer gamers, thanks to an active group of amateur game designers, who have created their own modifications (or mods) to the original games and continue to produce new material for it including explorations of whole regions outside of the original games' settings.
The Fallout games are set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where a nuclear war between the United States and China forever changed the world. Despite this, it has earned a good deal of attention given its ambitious nature and the stunning visuals of what has been completed so far.
Titled Fallout: New York, the expansion mod does not yet have a release date. A new mod for Fallout 4 is turning heads online, as it explores what became of New York City, New York in the world of Fallout.
